In Loving Memory of Sean Bell and Family

Dear Mr. McEuen:

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the recent verdict in the trial of Detectives Isnora, Oliver, and Cooper of the New York City Police Department.

There were no winners in this case, and no verdict could ever bring Sean Bell back to his family. I can think of no better way to honor Sean's legacy than by ensuring that such a tragedy never happens again. That's why we have hired an independent consulting group to review the NYPD's firearms training and conducted an internal review of its undercover practices, and we have already begun putting its recommendations in place. We know that we have more work to do to continue improving relations between the NYPD and all communities, but please know that we are determined to achieve this critically important goal.

Thank you again for expressing your concerns. Our Administration remains fully committed to making our City safe for all New Yorkers. Working together, I know that we can do just that.
